Connecting with Parents

As you implement Seesaw (E-2) or Schoology (3-12) into your classroom, begin to rethink how you communicate with parents. Instead of simple email updates or traditional print newsletters, these tools allow you to provide frequent and timely information about what is happening in your classroom in a variety of formats. Here are some options:

  • Seesaw posts
  • Schoology updates
  • Schoology calendar events
  • Video or audio messages
  • Slideshows
  • Uploaded student work
  • Blogs
  • And if you still like traditional newsletters, attached files
Many parents like to see work their child has submitted digitally and the feedback you have provided. If parents install the phone apps to these products, they can receive updates and messages right on their phone. Seesaw and Schoology are powerful communication opportunities for you, your students and parents.

When you are ready to take full advantage of these tools, you will want to connect with parents and explain how they can get signed up. Check out the following links for information about how to do this. Feel free to share this information with families when you are ready to connect. If you need help, don't hesitate to ask.
